Leadership Team

Tim Ramos
Tim Ramos, President and Chief Executive Officer
In his role as President and Chief Executive Officer, Tim Ramos has responsibility for Before the Call's strategic direction and operations. A veteran of the technology industry, Ramos previously held executive positions with IT services provider Cambridge Technology Partners, culminating in his role as executive vice president, Cambridge North America. In addition to managing North American operations totaling more than $500 million in revenue and 2,600 employees, he was an officer of the company and a board member of Cambridge Technology Capital Fund. Before joining Cambridge, Ramos was founder and chief executive officer of Ramos & Associates, Inc, which he grew to $25 million in five years, funded entirely from operating profits, and later sold to Cambridge. In 1996, Ramos & Associates was named the #1 Fastest-Growing Privately Held Company in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. Ramos earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Mark Hale
Dr. Mark Hale, Chief Technology Officer
Mark Hale turns the vision of on-demand prospect development management into reality. With responsibility for product management and technical innovation, he leads local and overseas engineering development, certification, and deployment to the software as a service platform. He is world-renowned in the area of Internet standards and is frequently quoted in the technology press, serving on working groups in the World Wide Web Consortium, Java Community Process and ebXML, among others. As vice president of worldwide field marketing at Interwoven, Hale was an integral part of the executive management team that returned the company to profitability and knows first hand the frustration marketing executives experience in identifying and targeting prospects who match their ideal customer profile. Mark has 15 years of research experience and holds a doctorate and a master's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, funded by the NASA High Performance Computing and Communications Program.

Fred Walters
Fred Walters, Chief Marketing Officer
After a successful career in the airline industry, Fred Walters, Chief Marketing Officer and a founder of Before the Call, made the transition to high-tech marketing 16 years ago. With a focus on customer service and satisfaction, he held a variety of senior management roles at market leaders Apple, Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, and most recently Interwoven.  It was at Interwoven where he met co-founder Mark Hale, leading implementations of numerous customer-facing applications from CRM and ERP to complex e-commerce systems.  While running Field Marketing at Interwoven, Fred and Mark were tasked with driving qualified leads to the sales organization and ultimately driving pipeline revenue.  Frustrated with the lack of prospect intelligence found within the CRM system, Fred and Mark mapped out a solution that would make the CRM application the system of record for customer and prospect intelligence.  The architecture was to become the future Before the Call on-demand prospect development solution, that would enable sales reps to research and qualify prospects without leaving their browser and to find new opportunities within their own CRM application.

David Hanafee
David Hanafee, Vice President of Sales
David Hanafee, a 20-year veteran of the software industry, drives the international sales strategy and operations, including a multi-tiered sales force with inside and outside sales, as well as channels, to further Before the Call's market leadership. Formerly vice president of sales at Ravenflow, a company that delivers precision requirements validation for software developers, Hanafee planned and managed global sales initiatives, including management and implementation of a state-of-the-art CRM solution. He has lived the pain that sales teams endure by wasting precious time identifying and qualifying prospects and is passionate about helping Before the Call's customers to connect their sales people with decision makers and stimulate sales productivity. Prior to Ravenflow, Hanafee served as vice president of sales and marketing at New Channel Inc., a leading provider of eCRM software, later acquired by Live Person, Inc. where he remained as vice president of sales. He received his bachelor's degree from the University College Dublin, Ireland.

John Harless
John Harless, Vice President of Finance & Administration
With over two decades of experience as a senior financial manager, John Harless has responsibility for Before the Call's accounting and finance, contracts, human resources and administration. He has successfully participated in growing early stage start-ups from inception to profitable $90 million companies at Teknekron Financial Systems (TFS) and Ramos & Associates, both of which were acquired, where he remained as CFO. Harless has also served as VP, Finance and CFO for organizations such as the America's Division of Cambridge Technology Partners, ZNOW, Endymion Systems and Ravenflow and closely participated in the successful sale of both ZNOW and Endymion Systems. John holds a BA from the University of San Francisco and an MBA from Golden Gate University.

Kathryn Gould, Board Member
With nearly 20 years in the venture capital business, and a distinguished career in high-technology marketing, engineering and recruitment--including her tenure as vice president of marketing at Oracle Corporation during the company’s formative years--Kathryn Gould brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her role as Board member of Before the Call. A founding partner of Foundation Capital, she has worked with talented entrepreneurs to create many market-leading companies, among them Documentum (DCTM), Interwoven (IWOV), Chordiant Software (CHRD) and ShoreTel Communications, and currently serves on the board of Shoretel for Foundation Capital.

Regularly recognized as one of the most accomplished venture capitalists, Kathryn has been featured on Forbes Magazine's "Midas List" of Tech's Best Venture Investors. In 2005 she received the University of Chicago's Distinguished Entrepreneurial Alumni Award. Prior to founding Foundation Capital in 1995, Kathryn was a General Partner from 1989 onwards with Merrill, Pickard, Anderson & Eyre.

Kathryn currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago, the Investment Committee of the University of Chicago, and is on the Advisory Council of the University of Chicago GSB, where she earned an MBA. She also holds a BS in Physics from the University of Toronto.
